Neuropsychology

  • Brandon Birath, Ph.D is a clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in evaluating cognitive and neurodevelopmental disorders in the forensic setting. He assesses issues such as mens rea, confessions, and competence from a cognitive ability perspective. His evaluations typically generate compelling evidence for mitigation or diversion (e.g., Regional Center).

    Dr. Birath is a member of the Los Angeles County Neuropsychology Expert Panel and is regularly appointed as an expert in both the Superior and Federal court systems. He has also worked as post-conviction habeas corpus consultant for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

    Dr. Birath also serves as the Co-Director of Psychology Training at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and holds the appointment of Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

  • Yurivia Cervantes-Manzo, Ph.D (she / her / hers) is a bilingual Clinical Neuropsychologist (English / Spanish) who currently serves as the Director of Neuropsychology Service and Co-Director of Psychology Training in the Department of Psychiatry at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. She is also a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor through the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is the founder and director of the Cervantes-Manzo Psychological & Neuropsychological Institute, Inc. and provides forensic consultation as an appointed bilingual Neuropsychology Expert Witness (English / Spanish) for the County of Los Angeles Superior Court.
